Learn to Skate USA

LEARN TO SKATE USA    (Age 3 - Adult)
Learn to Skate Basic Skills program is now called Learn to Skate USA and has been restructured to better fit the needs of all skaters.  The new program design will teach children and adults the fundamentals of ice skating, build confidence, ensure success through a progressive curriculum, and give each participant the foundation necessary to reach their goal, be it recreation or competitive in nature.

Learn to Skate USA is backed by US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and US Speedskating.  Register using MasterCard/Visa/Discover/American Express through ISD 728 Community Education website at or by phone at 763.241.3520.

Registration deadline for all classes is three days prior to start of the class.

There is NO pro-rating of fee for missed classes and no refunds once sessions start, except for extenuating circumstances. In addition, classes are subject to cancellation if minimum registration is not met or classes may be combined.  [Note that classes fill up early during fall/winter/spring sessions so register early as you are not guaranteed a spot it wait-listed.]

Classes are taught by sanctioned instructors over the course of six weeks and are held at the Rogers Activity Center.

Rental skates are available for $2/pair weekly, and bike helmets are available for $1.  Helmets are required for all Snowplow Sam, and Basic 1 classes.  All skaters should wear warm pants, jacket, and gloves.
Hockey classes require helmets, hockey gloves, shin pads, and a stick (other equipment is optional).
No double-blade skates allowed, nor are parents allowed on ice during lesson times.  Exceptions must be approved by skate director.

It is common for children to repeat a level before advancing to the next level, especially with the new skill sets being introduced.  All skaters will be assessed the first day of class to ensure they are in the correct classification; if not they may be moved appropriately.

Attendance is important to learn new skills that build on previous classes.  Please arrive 20 minutes early the first day of class to pick up name badge and general information.

Visit for complete outline of class descriptions or call 763.428.0975.  [Note:  Please check skates to ensure sharp edges as this will make it easier to skate; skate sharpening is available at the arena for $4.]
